1N5822 Schottky Diode — 40V / 3A, DO-201AD Package (2-Pack)
The 1N5822 is a high-current Schottky barrier rectifier rated at 40V reverse voltage and 3A continuous forward current, with a low forward voltage drop of 0.39V @ 1A and switching speeds exceeding 1MHz. Its DO-201AD package handles 3× the current of the 1N5819, making it the preferred choice for higher-power motor driver circuits, battery chargers, and DC-DC converters where both low Vf and substantial current handling are required.
Key Specifications

1N5822 vs 1N5819 — Which to Choose?
| Parameter | 1N5819 | 1N5822 |
|---|---|---|
| Max Current | 1A | 3A |
| Surge Current | 25A | 80A |
| Package | DO-41 | DO-201AD (larger) |
| Best For | Signal/low-power circuits | Motor drivers, power supplies |
Typical Applications
- Freewheeling diode for high-current motor driver ICs
- Reverse polarity protection in 3A+ power circuits
- Solar panel blocking diode (higher current systems)
- DC-DC converter output rectifier
- Battery charging circuit protection
- High-frequency power supply rectification
Important Note on Package Size
The DO-201AD package has lead diameters up to 0.051″ (1.3mm) — these will not fit standard 0.1″ breadboard holes. For breadboard prototyping, solder thinner gauge leads onto the diode leads, or use a PCB with appropriately sized pads.
Package Contents
- 2× 1N5822 Schottky Diode (DO-201AD, 40V/3A)
