MAX31856 perform cold junction compensation and digitize the signal for any type of thermocouple. The format of the output data is in degrees Celsius. The converter resolves temperature to 0.0078125 ° C, allows readings up to +1800 ° C and down to -210 ° C (depending on the thermocouple type), and has a thermocouple voltage measurement accuracy of +0.15 percent. The thermocouple input has overvoltage protection up to +45V. A look-up table (LUT) stores linearity correction data for several types of thermocouples (K,J,N,R,S,T,E, and B). Includes 50Hz and 60Hz line frequency filtering, and thermocouple fault detection. An SPI-compatible interface allows selection of thermocouple type and settings for conversion and fault detection processes.

Advantages and features:

Provides high accuracy thermocouple temperature readings. Includes automatic linearity correction for 8 thermocouple types. ± 0.15%(maximum,-20°C to +85°C) thermocouple full scale and linearity error. 19-bit 0.0078125 ° thermocouple temperature resolution. Internal cold junction compensation minimizes system components. ± 0.7°C (maximum,-20°C to +85°C) cold end. Accuracy. ± 45V input protection provides stable system performance. Simplify system fault management and troubleshooting. Detect open thermocouples. Overheat and low temperature fault detection. 50Hz/60Hz noise suppression filtering can improve system performance.
