Rabbit Drinking Fountain — Double Spring Duckbill Spout | Plastic | 6 / 12 / 24PCS | Cage Breeding Waterer

A reliable, hygienic rabbit drinking fountain with double spring duckbill spout — the standard automatic waterer for rabbit breeding cages, hutches, and commercial rabbitries. The double spring mechanism provides consistent water flow when the rabbit presses the duckbill nozzle with its tongue or nose, while preventing dripping and water waste when not in use. The plastic construction is lightweight, easy to clean, and resistant to the humid cage environment. Available in 6, 12, and 24-piece sets for small hobby breeders through to commercial rabbitry installations.

Double Spring Duckbill Mechanism — How It Works

The duckbill nipple waterer uses two springs to control water flow:

  • Outer spring — holds the duckbill nozzle closed when not in use, preventing dripping
  • Inner spring — provides the return force that closes the nozzle after the animal releases pressure
  • Operation — the rabbit presses the duckbill nozzle sideways or upward with its tongue/nose, compressing the springs and opening the water flow. Releasing pressure closes the nozzle immediately.

The double spring design provides more reliable sealing than single-spring designs, reducing dripping and cage floor wetness.

Why Automatic Waterers for Rabbit Breeding

Feature Automatic Nipple Waterer (this product) Open Water Bowl
Water hygiene Excellent (closed system, no contamination) Poor (contaminated by droppings, bedding)
Water waste Minimal (only flows when pressed) High (spillage, evaporation)
Labour Low (refill reservoir only) High (daily cleaning and refilling)
Cage floor wetness Minimal High (spillage)
Disease risk Low (no standing water) Higher (standing water breeds bacteria)

Installation Guide

  1. Connect the waterer to a water supply line or gravity-fed reservoir using the appropriate fitting (thread size varies — verify before connecting).
  2. Mount the waterer on the cage wire at a height comfortable for the rabbit to drink without straining (typically 10–15cm from the cage floor for adult rabbits).
  3. Introduce the rabbit to the waterer by gently pressing the nozzle to release a drop of water near the rabbit’s nose. Most rabbits learn to use nipple waterers within 24 hours.
  4. Check for dripping daily. Replace the waterer if dripping persists after cleaning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will young rabbits (kits) be able to use this waterer?
A: Young rabbits typically learn to use nipple waterers by 4–6 weeks of age. Ensure the waterer is mounted at an appropriate height for kits. Provide a shallow water dish as a supplement until kits are reliably using the nipple waterer.

Q: How do I clean the waterer?
A: Flush the waterer with clean water regularly. For deep cleaning, remove from the water line and soak in a dilute bleach solution (1:100), then rinse thoroughly before reinstalling.
