Blue LED 3mm Diffused — General Purpose, 10-Pack for Arduino, Breadboard & Compact PCB Projects
The 3mm diffused blue LED is the compact general-purpose blue indicator LED for Arduino, breadboard, and space-constrained PCB projects. At 3mm diameter, this LED fits into tight PCB layouts and compact enclosures where standard 5mm LEDs are too large — making it the preferred choice for miniature electronics, wearable projects, and any application where a small footprint is essential.
The diffused lens scatters light evenly across a wide viewing angle, providing omnidirectional visibility even in compact installations. Blue LEDs have a higher forward voltage than red, yellow, and green LEDs (typically 3.0–3.4V), making them compatible with both 3.3V and 5V Arduino circuits with a current-limiting resistor. Supplied in a 10-pack for prototyping and small production runs.
Key Features
- 3mm through-hole package — compact size for space-constrained PCB layouts and miniature enclosures
- Diffused lens — wide viewing angle (~120°) for omnidirectional visibility
- Blue color — high-visibility status, power, and connectivity indicator
- Forward voltage ~3.0–3.4V — compatible with 3.3V and 5V Arduino circuits with resistor
- 10-pack — ideal for prototyping and small production runs
- Long service life — LED technology; no filament to burn out
How to Use with Arduino
- Connect the anode (longer leg) to an Arduino digital output pin through a 100–220Ω current-limiting resistor
- Connect the cathode (shorter leg) to GND
- Set the digital pin HIGH to turn the LED on, LOW to turn it off
- For 3.3V systems: use a 68–100Ω resistor; for 5V systems: use a 150–220Ω resistor
Typical Applications
- Compact PCB status indicators — power-on, connectivity, and mode indicators on miniature PCBs
- Wearable electronics — small LED indicators for wearable and portable devices
- Arduino beginner projects — compact LED for breadboard and shield projects
- Robotics and automation — status and mode indicator LEDs in compact robot builds
- Educational electronics kits — STEM and electronics learning projects
