Ethernet MagJack — RJ45 with Integrated Magnetics, PCB Mount
An Ethernet MagJack — an RJ45 connector with integrated magnetic isolation transformer — for adding a professional Ethernet port to custom PCBs. The integrated magnetics (transformer + common-mode choke) provide IEEE 802.3 compliant isolation between the PHY chip and the Ethernet cable, protecting against ESD, ground loops, and common-mode noise. Includes LED indicator pins for link and activity status. Compatible with ENC28J60, W5500, and LAN8720 Ethernet PHY chips used in Arduino and ESP32 projects.
Key Specifications
- Connector: RJ45 with integrated magnetics (MagJack)
- Standard: 10BASE-T / 100BASE-TX (IEEE 802.3)
- Mounting: Through-hole PCB mount
- LED indicators: 2 (link + activity)
- Isolation: 1500V RMS (integrated transformer)
- Compatible PHYs: ENC28J60, W5500, LAN8720, DP83848
- Compliance: RoHS compliant
Why Choose a MagJack?
- ✅ Integrated magnetics — no separate transformer needed, simplifies PCB design
- ✅ 1500V isolation — protects PHY chip from ESD and ground loop damage
- ✅ IEEE 802.3 compliant — meets Ethernet electrical standards for reliable networking
- ✅ LED indicators — link and activity status without external components
- ✅ Compact PCB footprint — single component replaces RJ45 + separate transformer
Typical Applications
- Arduino Ethernet shield custom PCB design
- ESP32 wired Ethernet port (LAN8720 + MagJack)
- ENC28J60 or W5500 Ethernet module custom PCB
- Industrial embedded Ethernet controller PCB
- IoT gateway wired Ethernet port
