AC Power Adapter — 5V DC / 2A, Universal Input, 5.5×2.1mm Barrel Plug
The 5V DC 2A AC power adapter provides a clean, regulated 5V supply at up to 2A — the standard voltage for USB-powered electronics, Arduino boards, Raspberry Pi (via barrel-to-USB adapter), and 5V LED strips. With a universal 100–240V AC input, it works worldwide without voltage adapters. The right-angle slim housing mounts parallel to the wall outlet or power strip, saving adjacent outlet space. The standard 5.5×2.1mm center-positive barrel plug connects directly to breadboard power supply modules, Arduino DC jacks, and most 5V electronics modules.
Key Specifications
| Input Voltage | 100–240V AC, 50/60Hz (universal) |
| Output Voltage (nominal) | 5V DC |
| Output Current (max) | 2A continuous |
| Output Ripple | ~200mV typical @ 2A load |
| DC Plug | 5.5mm O.D. × 2.1mm I.D. barrel (center positive) |
| Housing | Right-angle slim, saves outlet space |
| Compliance | CE, RoHS |
5V vs 7.5V vs 12V Adapter — Which to Choose?
- 5V 2A (this): Direct 5V supply for USB-equivalent loads, 5V LED strips, 5V relay boards, and projects that need 5V without an onboard regulator
- 7.5V 1A: Best for Arduino boards and breadboard power supply modules with onboard 5V/3.3V linear regulators — minimizes regulator heat
- 12V 2A: Best for 12V LED strips, relay coils, stepper motor drivers, and CCTV cameras
Typical Applications
- 5V LED strip power supply — WS2812B, SK6812, and 5V addressable LED strips
- 5V relay board power supply — direct 5V coil supply for relay modules without onboard regulator
- Breadboard power supply module input — MB102, YwRobot (5V input mode)
- Arduino Uno / Nano via DC barrel jack — bypasses onboard regulator for direct 5V supply
- Raspberry Pi via barrel-to-USB-C adapter — with appropriate adapter cable
- ESP32 / ESP8266 development board power — via 5V pin with barrel-to-pin adapter
- Electronics lab bench 5V supply — general-purpose regulated 5V / 2A DC source
- USB hub and device power — via barrel-to-USB-A adapter
Compatibility
The 5.5×2.1mm center-positive barrel plug is the universal DC power connector standard, compatible with Arduino Uno/Mega DC jacks, MB102 breadboard power supplies, most relay modules, and the majority of 5V electronics project enclosures and development boards worldwide.
