Q: Can the output voltage be set lower than the input voltage?
A: No. A boost converter can only step up voltage — the output must always be higher than the input. For step-down (buck) conversion, use an LM2596S or MP1584EN module instead.

Q: What is the maximum output current at 12V from a 5V input?
A: Output power is limited by input current and efficiency. At 5V input and 93% efficiency: P_out = P_in × 0.93. If the input can supply 3A at 5V (15W), output at 12V is approximately 15 × 0.93 / 12 = 1.16A. Higher output current requires a higher-current input source.
