MCP2562FD High-Speed CAN FD Bus Transceiver — ISO 11898-2
The MCP2562FD is a high-speed CAN FD (Flexible Data-rate) bus transceiver from Microchip Technology, compliant with ISO 11898-2. CAN FD extends classic CAN with a higher data-phase bit rate up to 8Mbps and larger payload frames (up to 64 bytes vs. 8 bytes in classic CAN) — enabling faster and more data-rich communication in automotive and industrial networks. Backward compatible with classic CAN 2.0 at 1Mbps.
Key Specifications
- IC: MCP2562FD | Standard: ISO 11898-2 (CAN FD)
- Arbitration phase: up to 1Mbps | Data phase: up to 8Mbps
- Supply voltage: 5V | Bus nodes: up to 112
- Backward compatible: Yes (classic CAN 2.0)
- Bus protection: Short-circuit and thermal protection
- Package: DIP-8 / SOIC-8
- Compliance: RoHS compliant
CAN FD vs Classic CAN
- CAN FD data phase: up to 8Mbps vs. 1Mbps for classic CAN
- CAN FD payload: up to 64 bytes per frame vs. 8 bytes for classic CAN
- Backward compatible: MCP2562FD works on classic CAN networks at 1Mbps
Typical Applications
- Automotive CAN FD network transceiver
- Industrial high-speed CAN FD sensor network
- Electric vehicle BMS high-speed CAN FD communication
- Robotics high-bandwidth inter-board CAN FD bus
