M3–M8 DIN914 Hex Socket Cone Point Set Screw Grub Bolt — 304 Stainless Steel & Black Grade 12.9 Steel

DIN914 hex socket cone point (tapered end) set screws for permanent or semi-permanent shaft locking. The conical tip penetrates the shaft surface more aggressively than a cup point, providing the highest holding force of all set screw tip types. Available in A2-70 304 stainless steel for corrosion resistance and black grade 12.9 steel for maximum strength.

Key Specifications

Material Options 304 Stainless Steel (A2-70) / Black Grade 12.9 Steel
Drive Hex socket (Allen key)
Tip Type Cone point / tapered end (DIN914)
Thread Range M3, M4, M5, M6, M8
Standard DIN 914 / ISO 4027

Why Choose Cone Point Set Screws?

  • Cone point tip — penetrates shaft surface for maximum holding force; ideal for permanent or semi-permanent locking
  • Two material options — 304 SS for corrosion resistance; grade 12.9 for maximum tensile strength
  • DIN914 standard — interchangeable with ISO 4027
  • Hex socket drive — high torque installation with standard Allen keys

Typical Applications

  • Permanent shaft collar and hub locking (where shaft removal is not required)
  • High-torque pulley and sprocket retention
  • Set screw locking in vibration-prone machinery
  • Shaft-to-hub locking in power transmission applications

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between cone point and cup point?
A: Cone point (DIN914) has a sharp conical tip that penetrates deeper into the shaft for maximum holding force — best for permanent locking. Cup point (DIN916) has a concave cup that bites into the shaft with less penetration — better for semi-permanent locking where shaft removal may be needed.
