PN2907 PNP General Purpose Transistor — TO-92, 40V / 800mA, 10 Pieces
The PN2907 is the PNP complement to the PN2222A NPN transistor, offering 800mA collector current in the same TO-92 package — making it the highest-current general-purpose PNP transistor in the standard TO-92 form factor. It is used for high-side switching applications where a PNP device is required and the load current exceeds the capability of the 2N3906 (200mA). Together with the PN2222A, they form a matched complementary pair for push-pull output stages and H-bridge circuits.
10 pieces per pack.
Key Specifications
- Type: PNP Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT), silicon
- Package: TO-92 (through-hole, plastic)
- Pinout (flat face forward, left to right): Emitter (E) — Base (B) — Collector (C)
- Collector-Emitter Voltage (Vceo): −40V
- Collector-Base Voltage (Vcbo): −60V
- Collector Current (Ic): 800mA continuous
- DC Current Gain (hFE): 100–300 (@ Ic=150mA, Vce=−1V)
- Power Dissipation (Pd): 625mW
- Saturation Voltage (Vce(sat)): −0.4V @ Ic=500mA
- Manufacturer: Fairchild / ON Semiconductor
- Quantity: 10 pieces
TO-92 Pinout (Flat Face Forward)
- Pin 1 (left): Emitter (E)
- Pin 2 (center): Base (B)
- Pin 3 (right): Collector (C)
High-Side Switch Wiring (12V Load, NPN Gate Drive)
- Emitter (E) → +12V supply
- Collector (C) → Load positive terminal
- Load negative terminal → GND
- Base (B) → NPN transistor collector (for 12V high-side control from 5V MCU)
- 10kΩ pull-up from Base to Emitter (+12V) — ensures PNP is OFF when NPN is OFF
- NPN base → Arduino GPIO via 10kΩ; MCU HIGH → NPN ON → PNP ON (load powered)
PN2907 vs. 2N3906 vs. PN2222A
- PN2907 (PNP): 40V, 800mA. Highest current TO-92 PNP. Complementary to PN2222A.
- 2N3906 (PNP): 40V, 200mA. Lower current. Complementary to 2N3904.
- PN2222A (NPN): 40V, 600mA. Complementary NPN pair for PN2907.
Typical Applications
- High-side load switching (5V–12V) controlled by MCU via NPN gate drive
- Complementary push-pull output stage (paired with PN2222A)
- Class-AB audio amplifier output stage
- High-current LED array driver (high-side, up to 800mA)
- Relay driver (high-side configuration)
- Current mirror and current source circuits
- Signal amplification in audio preamplifier circuits
