Collision Switch Module — Mechanical Bump Sensor, Digital Output, Arduino Compatible (KY-066)
This collision switch module (KY-066 compatible) uses a mechanical lever switch to detect physical contact or collision — the simplest and most reliable method of obstacle detection for mobile robots and automated systems. When the lever is pressed by contact with an object, the module outputs a digital signal to the microcontroller. No calibration, no interference, no false positives from light or sound — just reliable mechanical contact detection. Includes 3-pin header for direct Arduino connection.
Module Specifications
- Compatible Module: KY-066 (same or similar)
- Sensor Type: Mechanical lever switch (collision / bump detection)
- Output: Digital (changes state on contact)
- Operating Voltage: 3.3V – 5V DC
- Connector: 3-pin male header (GND, VCC, Signal)
Collision Switch vs Ultrasonic / IR Sensor
- Collision switch (this listing): Mechanical contact, no false positives, works in any lighting — for bumper switches and physical contact detection
- Ultrasonic sensor: Non-contact, detects distance — for obstacle avoidance before contact
- IR sensor: Non-contact, detects reflective surfaces — for line following and proximity
- Use collision switch as a backup safety sensor alongside non-contact sensors
Typical Applications
- Robot bumper switch: Detect physical collision for obstacle avoidance in mobile robots
- 3D printer endstop: Alternative endstop switch for axis homing
- Conveyor end detection: Detect when a part reaches the end of a conveyor
- Drawer / door detection: Detect fully closed position of drawers and doors
- Safety interlock: Physical contact safety switch for automated machinery
Package Contents
- 1 × Collision switch module with 3-pin header (KY-066 compatible)
