W5500 Ethernet Module — SPI, Hardwired TCP/IP
The W5500 Ethernet module adds wired 10/100Mbps Ethernet connectivity to any microcontroller with an SPI interface. The W5500 chip features a hardwired TCP/IP stack — handling TCP, UDP, ICMP, IPv4, ARP, IGMP, and PPPoE in hardware, offloading the host MCU from network processing. Supports 8 independent sockets simultaneously. Compatible with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and any 3.3V/5V SPI microcontroller.
Key Specifications
- Chip: WIZnet W5500 | Speed: 10/100Mbps
- Interface: SPI (up to 80MHz) | Sockets: 8 independent
- Protocols: TCP / UDP / ICMP / IPv4 / ARP / IGMP / PPPoE (hardwired)
- Operating voltage: 3.3V | I/O: 3.3V / 5V compatible
- Connector: RJ45 with integrated magnetics and LEDs
- Compliance: RoHS compliant
Why Choose This?
- ✅ Hardwired TCP/IP — no software TCP/IP stack needed, minimal MCU overhead
- ✅ 8 simultaneous sockets — run multiple TCP/UDP connections at once
- ✅ 3.3V/5V compatible — works with Arduino Uno, ESP32, STM32 and Raspberry Pi
- ✅ Arduino Ethernet library compatible — drop-in replacement for W5100-based shields
Typical Applications
- Arduino and ESP32 wired Ethernet IoT projects
- Industrial Ethernet sensor and actuator nodes
- Web server and MQTT client over wired Ethernet
- Reliable network connections where WiFi is unsuitable
