HC-05 ZS-040 Bluetooth Module — Master/Slave, UART
The HC-05 ZS-040 is the most popular Bluetooth serial module for Arduino and microcontroller projects. Unlike the HC-06 (slave only), the HC-05 can be configured as both Bluetooth master and slave via AT commands — enabling device-to-device Bluetooth connections without a smartphone. Communicates via UART serial at 3.3V logic (5V tolerant on most boards), making it compatible with virtually any microcontroller.
Key Specifications
- Bluetooth: v2.0 + EDR | Range: up to 10m (Class 2)
- Mode: Master / Slave (configurable via AT commands)
- Interface: UART | Default baud rate: 9600bps
- Operating voltage: 3.3V | I/O: 3.3V / 5V compatible
- Pairing: Default PIN: 1234 | Configurable via AT commands
- Compliance: RoHS compliant
Why Choose This?
- ✅ Master + Slave modes — connect two HC-05 modules together without a smartphone
- ✅ AT command configurable — change baud rate, name, PIN and mode via serial terminal
- ✅ UART serial interface — transparent wireless serial, works with any microcontroller
- ✅ 5V tolerant — connect directly to Arduino Uno TX/RX without level shifter
Typical Applications
- Wireless serial communication between Arduino boards
- Smartphone-to-Arduino Bluetooth control apps
- RC robot and drone wireless control
- Wireless sensor data transmission
