SQL60A Three-Phase Bridge Rectifier — 60A, Aluminum Case, Industrial Power Supply
The SQL60A is a three-phase bridge rectifier module rated at 60A continuous forward current, housed in an aluminium case for efficient heat dissipation. It converts three-phase AC input (3Φ AC) to DC output using six internal rectifier diodes in a full-wave bridge configuration, providing smooth DC output with low ripple compared to single-phase rectification. Suitable for industrial power supplies, three-phase motor drives, inverters, and welding equipment requiring high-current DC rectification from three-phase mains.

Three-Phase Rectification Reference
| Parameter | Formula / Value |
|---|---|
| DC Output Voltage (no load) | V_DC = 1.35 × V_AC(line-to-line) |
| Example: 380V 3Φ input | V_DC ≈ 513V DC (no load) |
| Example: 220V 3Φ input | V_DC ≈ 297V DC (no load) |
| Ripple Frequency | 6 × mains frequency (300Hz at 50Hz mains) |
| Ripple Factor | ~4% (much lower than single-phase) |
Typical Applications
- Industrial Power Supply: Three-phase AC-to-DC rectification for industrial DC power supplies, battery chargers, and electroplating power supplies
- Variable Frequency Drive (VFD): Input rectifier stage for three-phase VFD motor drives converting 380V 3Φ AC to DC bus voltage
- Welding Equipment: High-current DC rectifier for three-phase MIG, TIG, and MMA welding power sources
- Induction Heating: DC bus rectifier for three-phase induction heating power supplies
- UPS Systems: Three-phase rectifier for industrial UPS and power conditioning equipment
Installation Notes
- Mount the SQL60A to a heatsink using thermal compound and an M5 bolt for adequate heat dissipation at rated current
- Connect three-phase AC input to terminals U, V, W (phase sequence does not affect DC output polarity)
- Connect DC load between DC+ and DC− output terminals
- Add a bulk electrolytic capacitor across DC+ and DC− to reduce output ripple
- Ensure the heatsink thermal resistance is adequate to keep junction temperature below 150°C at rated load
FAQ
Q: Does the SQL60A require a heatsink?
A: Yes. At rated 60A current, the SQL60A dissipates approximately 66W (6 diodes × 1.1V × 10A each). A heatsink with thermal resistance ≤1.5°C/W is required to keep junction temperature within safe limits at full load.
Q: Can the SQL60A be used for single-phase rectification?
A: Yes. Connect single-phase AC to any two of the three AC input terminals (e.g., U and V) and leave the third terminal (W) unconnected. This uses 4 of the 6 internal diodes as a single-phase bridge rectifier, with a reduced current rating.
