LCD2004 20×4 Character LCD Display — Blue Backlight, Parallel Interface
The LCD2004 20×4 character LCD display with HD44780 controller and blue backlight — the larger alternative to the LCD1602, providing 20 characters across 4 lines for displaying more data simultaneously. Compatible with the Arduino LiquidCrystal library using the same code as the LCD1602. Add an I2C backpack (PCF8574) to reduce wiring to 2 wires.
Key Specifications
- Display: 20 characters × 4 lines | Controller: HD44780
- Interface: 4-bit or 8-bit parallel | Pins: 16-pin header
- Supply: 5V | Backlight: Blue with white characters
- Contrast: Adjustable via pin 3 (V0)
- Library: LiquidCrystal (Arduino built-in)
- Compliance: RoHS compliant
LCD2004 vs LCD1602
- LCD2004: 20×4 = 80 characters — display 4 sensor readings simultaneously
- LCD1602: 16×2 = 32 characters — compact, sufficient for simple displays
- Both use the same HD44780 controller and LiquidCrystal library code
Typical Applications
- Multi-sensor data display (temperature, humidity, pressure, time)
- Arduino menu system with 4-line navigation
- Data logger status display
- Industrial controller status panel
- Clock with date, time, and additional information
