The 1N4004 are a very commonly used power diode and are often used for reverse voltage protection on DC input circuits and also used in many power applications such as DC-DC converters.
The 1N4004 can handle up to 400V reverse voltage and up to 1A of continuous current with a surge peak of 30A.
1N4004 are polarized axial-leaded devices with a silver band denoting the cathode end of the diode.
