Default Title

AT24C02 I²C EEPROM Memory IC — SOP-8, 2Kbit (256 Bytes), 2.7V (5-Pack)

The AT24C02 from Microchip (formerly Atmel) is a 2Kbit (256-byte) I²C serial EEPROM in SOP-8 SMD package — the most widely used EEPROM for storing non-volatile configuration data, calibration values, and user settings in embedded systems. Three address pins (A0–A2) allow up to 8 AT24C02 devices on a single I²C bus. 1 million write cycle endurance and 100-year data retention. Pack of 5.

Memory Specifications

  • Part Number: AT24C02 / AT24C02BN / 24C02N
  • Package: SOP-8 (SMD, 1.27mm pitch)
  • Capacity: 2Kbit = 256 bytes
  • Interface: I²C (2-wire: SDA + SCL)
  • I²C Address: 0x50–0x57 (set by A0–A2 pins)
  • Supply Voltage: 2.7V – 5.5V
  • Max Clock: 400kHz (Fast mode)
  • Page Size: 8 bytes (page write)
  • Write Endurance: 1,000,000 cycles
  • Data Retention: 100 years
  • Write Protect: Hardware WP pin
  • Pack Quantity: 5 ICs

Arduino Usage

  • VCC → 3.3V/5V | GND → GND | SDA → A4 | SCL → A5
  • A0–A2 to GND for address 0x50 (default)
  • Use Wire library: Wire.beginTransmission(0x50);
  • Or use AT24C02 library from Arduino Library Manager

AT24C02 vs AT24C32 vs AT24C256

  • AT24C02 (this IC): 256 bytes — for device settings, calibration, small config data
  • AT24C32: 4KB — for RTC module data logging (DS3231 companion)
  • AT24C256: 32KB — for larger data storage and firmware parameters

Typical Applications

  • Arduino non-volatile configuration storage
  • Sensor calibration data storage
  • Device serial number and MAC address storage
  • User settings retention across power cycles
  • RTC module companion EEPROM (DS3231 + AT24C32)

AT24C02 I²C EEPROM, 5-pack — SOP-8, 256 bytes, 2.7–5.5V, 1M write cycles for Arduino non-volatile config storage and embedded data logging.
