Bonsai Training Wire — 1mm / 1.5mm / 2mm / 3mm, Anodized Aluminum, Plant Shaping
Anodized aluminum bonsai training wire for shaping and positioning bonsai tree branches and trunks. The anodized aluminum construction provides the ideal combination of flexibility for easy wrapping, sufficient rigidity to hold branch position, and rust-proof durability for outdoor and indoor bonsai use. The anodized finish blends naturally with bark and soil, minimising visual impact during the training period. Available in 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, and 3mm diameters to suit branches of different thicknesses.

Bonsai Wiring Technique
- Select wire diameter approximately 1/3 of the branch thickness for adequate holding force
- Wrap the wire at a 45° angle to the branch, working from the base towards the tip
- Do not wrap too tightly — leave slight clearance to allow for branch growth
- Check wired branches every 4–6 weeks and remove wire before it cuts into the bark (wire marks)
- Remove wire by unwinding in the opposite direction, or cut into sections with wire cutters
Typical Applications
- Branch Shaping: Wire branches into the desired position and angle for bonsai styling — the branch will set in the wired position after 3–6 months
- Trunk Shaping: Wire young trunks to create movement, curves, and taper in informal upright and cascade bonsai styles
- Garden Plant Training: Train climbing plants, espalier fruit trees, and ornamental shrubs along walls, trellises, and frames
FAQ
Q: How long should I leave the wire on?
A: Leave the wire on until the branch has set in the desired position — typically 3–6 months for deciduous trees, 6–12 months for conifers. Check every 4–6 weeks and remove before the wire cuts into the bark.
