KEY FEATURES OF 10UF, 16V TANTALUM CAPACITORS:

Tantalum capacitors serve the same basic function as the more common electrolytic capacitors, but the construction is higher quality and they do not degrade with age like electrolytic caps do.

These capacitors are frequently used for lower frequency filtering, DC blocking, RC timing and similar applications where you need a fair amount of capacitance and want better stability than an electrolytic capacitor will provide.  They are polarized with the positive lead denoted by a stripe.

These tantalum capacitors are rated at 16VDC when used in high impedance circuits.  When using any tantalum capacitor in low impedance circuits such as for power supply filtering, the working voltage must be derated by 25-50%.

These are new surplus parts without an exact PN though they appear to be T355E106K016AS.   One nice thing about tantalum capacitors is that they don’t age on the shelf like electrolytics do.

We tested samples at 12VDC in a low impedance power supply filtering circuit without any issues noted, but use your own judgment.  If you keep them under 8V you should be very safe.

We are selling these cheap.  The going rate for KEMET 10uF 16V tantalums is over $1 apiece.

Notes:  

1. These caps come with pre-trimmed leads approximately 5mm long which work well in breadboards or soldering into PCBs.
2. These caps are polarized.  Ensure that proper polarity is observed when installing into a circuit.
