Default Title

EW-632 / W32 / AKE — Magnetic Reed Switch Sensor for Door & Window Alarm

The EW-632 (also marked W32 or AKE) is a surface-mount magnetic reed switch sensor designed for door and window intrusion detection. When the magnet (mounted on the moving part) separates from the switch body (mounted on the frame), the reed contact opens or closes — triggering an alarm panel, Arduino, or security system. Simple, reliable, and no power required for the sensor itself.

Key Specifications

Parameter Value
Model EW-632 / W32 / AKE
Contact Type NC (Normally Closed, default) / NO available
Contact Rating 100mA / 100VDC max
Actuation Gap ~15–25mm (magnet separation distance)
Wire Length ~30cm (pre-wired leads)
Mounting Surface mount (adhesive or screw)
Body Material ABS plastic
Operating Temperature -10°C to +55°C

Why Choose EW-632?

  • No power required — passive reed switch, zero standby current
  • NC contact (fail-safe) — alarm triggers on wire cut or sensor removal
  • Surface mount — easy installation on door/window frame without drilling
  • Pre-wired leads — ready to connect to alarm panel or Arduino GPIO
  • Universal compatibility — works with any wired alarm panel, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi

Compatible With / Works With

  • Wired alarm panels: DSC, Paradox, Bosch, Honeywell (zone input)
  • Arduino UNO/Nano (digital input with pull-up resistor)
  • ESP32 / ESP8266 (GPIO input for WiFi-connected alarm)
  • Raspberry Pi GPIO (door open/close detection)
  • Home Assistant (via ESPHome or Zigbee gateway)

Typical Applications

  • Home Security Alarm — door/window zone sensor for wired alarm panel
  • Arduino Door Monitor — detect door open/close state with digital GPIO input
  • Smart Home Automation — ESP32 + EW-632 for WiFi door sensor in Home Assistant
  • Cabinet Security — detect unauthorized opening of server rack or equipment cabinet
  • Mailbox Alert — Arduino + EW-632 + buzzer for mailbox open notification

Wiring (Arduino)

Sensor Wire Arduino Connection
Wire 1 Digital pin (e.g., D2)
Wire 2 GND
Pull-up Enable INPUT_PULLUP in code

When door is closed: NC contact closed → pin reads LOW. When door is open: NC contact open → pin reads HIGH (via pull-up).

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between NC and NO magnetic sensors?
A: NC (Normally Closed): contact is closed when magnet is near (door closed), opens when magnet moves away (door opens). This is the fail-safe type — a cut wire or removed sensor also triggers the alarm. NO (Normally Open): opposite behavior. NC is standard for security applications.

Q: How far can the magnet be from the switch before it triggers?
A: Typically 15–25mm gap. Install the switch body on the fixed frame and the magnet on the moving door/window, aligned within 5mm laterally for reliable operation.

Q: Can EW-632 be used with a wireless alarm system?
A: EW-632 is a wired sensor. For wireless systems, use a wireless door sensor module (433MHz or Zigbee) that incorporates a reed switch internally.
