These header shunts are used to short adjacent male header pins.

• Bridges 2 adjacent 2.54mm (0.1″) spaced male header pins

These are commonly used to short adjacent male header pins to chose between a couple of options on circuit boards or to bridge adjacent header pins without having to solder wires or using long jumper wires.

We like these standard black shunts for applications where the shunt is going to remain in one location or be moved rarely.  They also do not add any vertical height to the assembly.

If the shunt is going to be moved on occasion, the shunts with finger grips can be a good choice to consider.
