Expect customization orders.Basic large smart car chassis kit with 4-wheel drive
This is a basic large smart car chassis kit with 4-wheel drive that has plenty of room to mount motor controllers, uCs, sensors and other accessories.
The two acrylic platforms are identical except for color, so the black can be placed on the top or bottom depending on preference.
The platforms have many mounting holes to facilitate mounting electronics, battery packs and similar. Being acrylic, it is easy to drill additional holes as required using a standard drill bit to fit whatever you might want to fit.
The motors are DC motors that will work between 3-12VDC. Speed of rotation will depend on the voltage and whether a PWM motor controller is added for speed and direction control. The motor wires will need to be soldered to the motors, so a soldering iron is required.
These make an inexpensive platform to get started with robotic controls. The kit includes the essentials to put together a motorized platform, but it does not include any of the control electronics. Those can be ordered separately if they are required.
The acrylic is 5mm thick and makes for a fairly strong assembly.
The basic kit is straightforward to assemble by referring to the pictures. You will want to assembly the bottom platform with the motors and wheels before adding the top platform.
The motors can be mounted pointed in the same direction on each side as shown in the the pictures or they can be mounted in the opposite direction with with the wiring ends pointing towards each other which will give a slightly longer wheel base.
The motors do tend to run on the fast side when powered straight off of DC voltage, so unless you are building a speed racer, you should plan on running the motors at a lower voltage if driving them directly. At 3V, the motors run at about 100RPM with a medium load. Most often, a PWM based motor controller is used to provide MCU control of the speed as well as to allow for reversing direction of the motors. When used with a motor controller, 6-12V power is generally used.
