Silicone Thermal Pad for TO-220 Package — Insulating, 10-Pack
Silicone thermal insulating pads for TO-220 package components — pack of 10. These pads are placed between a TO-220 component (MOSFET, transistor, voltage regulator) and a metal heatsink to provide thermal conductivity while maintaining electrical insulation. Without insulation, the metal tab of a TO-220 package is electrically connected to one of its pins — mounting directly to a grounded heatsink would cause a short circuit. These pads solve that problem.
Key Specifications
- Package: TO-220 (pre-cut to fit)
- Material: Silicone (electrically insulating, thermally conductive)
- Thermal conductivity: ~1.0–1.5 W/m·K
- Dielectric strength: >4kV
- Temperature range: -40°C to +200°C
- Pack: 10 pads
- Compliance: RoHS compliant
Why Insulating Thermal Pads?
- ✅ Electrical insulation — prevents short circuit between TO-220 tab and heatsink
- ✅ Thermal conductivity — transfers heat from component to heatsink efficiently
- ✅ Pre-cut for TO-220 — correct size, no cutting required
- ✅ Reusable — silicone pads can be removed and reused
- ✅ 10-pack value — enough for 10 component installations
Installation
Place pad between TO-220 tab and heatsink. Use an insulating bushing on the mounting screw hole as well. Apply light clamping pressure with M3 screw and nut.
Typical Applications
- MOSFET (IRF540, IRFZ44N) heatsink mounting
- Voltage regulator (LM7805, LM317) heatsink mounting
- Power transistor (TIP31, TIP120) heatsink mounting
- Motor driver IC heatsink mounting
- Linear power supply regulator thermal management
