For connecting to Teensy 4.1 USB Host port

DESCRIPTION

This cable allows connecting a USB device or USB hub to the Teeny 4.1 or other microcontrollers with a USB Host 5-pin port.

The cable has a 2.54mm (0.1″) 5-pin female header for connecting to the Teensy 4.1 USB Host header.  The other end has a standard Type A USB connector like is found on a PC for mating with standard USB devices like a mouse, keyboard, Midi device or memory stick.  The cable has a total length of 12″.

When used with a Teensy 4.1, a 5-pin male header must be soldered to the USB Host connector footprint.  If also ordering a Teensy 4.1, we can add that header for you.  Just add a comment when you checkout to ‘Please add USB Host header’.

The 5-pin female connector plugs into the header with the red 5V wire facing towards the micro-B USB connector on the Teensy 4.1 as shown here.

If you are working with a Teensy 4.1, the USBHost_t36 library is the one to use.  As the name implies, it was originally created for the Teensy 3.6, but now also supports Teensy 4.1 and comes as part of the Teensyduino.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Teensy 4.1 has a logic controlled power switch on the USB Host 5V power pin and so the connector will not have 5V power until the USBHost begin() function is called.
