Yellow LED 5mm Diffused — General Purpose, 10-Pack for Arduino, Breadboard & PCB Projects
The 5mm diffused yellow LED is the standard general-purpose warning and caution indicator LED for Arduino, breadboard, and custom PCB projects. Yellow is the universal caution/warning color in electronics and traffic signaling — instantly communicating a standby, processing, or warning state. Whether you’re building a traffic light project, a battery level indicator, or a multi-state status display, the yellow LED is the essential middle signal.
The diffused lens scatters light evenly across a wide viewing angle, providing omnidirectional visibility. Yellow LEDs have a forward voltage of approximately 2.0–2.2V, making them compatible with both 3.3V and 5V Arduino circuits with a current-limiting resistor. Supplied in a 10-pack for prototyping and small production runs.
Key Features
- 5mm through-hole package — breadboard and PCB compatible; standard LED footprint
- Diffused lens — wide viewing angle (~120°) for omnidirectional visibility
- Yellow color — universal caution/warning/standby indicator color
- Forward voltage ~2.0–2.2V — compatible with 3.3V and 5V Arduino circuits
- 10-pack — ideal for prototyping and small production runs
- Long service life — LED technology; no filament to burn out
How to Use with Arduino
- Connect the anode (longer leg) to an Arduino digital output pin through a 220–330Ω current-limiting resistor
- Connect the cathode (shorter leg) to GND
- Set the digital pin HIGH to turn on, LOW to turn off
- For PWM dimming: use
analogWrite(pin, value)with value 0–255
Typical Applications
- Warning and caution indicators — yellow is the universal caution/warning color
- Traffic light Arduino projects — yellow signal in traffic light and intersection projects
- Battery level indicators — medium charge level indicator in battery status displays
- Standby and processing indicators — indicates system is active but not ready
- Custom PCB status indicators — warning and mode indicators on custom PCBs
- Educational electronics kits — STEM and electronics learning projects
