Molex 51005 Female Same-Side-Head Pre-Crimped Cable — MX 2.0mm, 2–12 Pin, 22AWG
The same-side-head variant of the Molex 51005 female pre-crimped cable — wires exit from the same side as the latch, rather than the opposite side as in standard single-head cables. This orientation is essential when cable routing must run parallel to the PCB surface, toward the front of an enclosure, or in any space-constrained assembly where a standard cable exit would cause strain or interference.
Mates with Molex 51006 PCB through-hole headers (2.0mm pitch). Available in 2P through 12P with color-coded 22AWG UL1007 conductors.
Key Specifications
- Connector: Molex MX 2.0mm female receptacle (51005-compatible), friction/positive latch
- Wire exit: Same side as latch (same-side-head orientation)
- Pitch: 2.00 mm | Pin counts: 2 to 12 pin
- Wire: 22AWG UL1007 PVC, color-coded conductors
- Voltage rating: 300 V | Current rating: 3A per contact
- Temperature range: −25°C to +80°C
- Termination: Female housing one end, bare tinned leads other end
- Compliance: RoHS
Same-Side-Head vs Standard Single-Head — Which Do I Need?
- Standard single-head: Wires exit from the opposite side of the latch — cable runs away from the PCB surface (most common, general-purpose)
- Same-side-head (this product): Wires exit from the same side as the latch — cable runs parallel to the PCB or toward the front of the enclosure (use when cable routing space is restricted)
Typical Applications
- 📱 Wearables & Compact Devices: Tight enclosures where cable must route parallel to PCB surface
- 📡 IoT & Embedded: Sensor and battery wiring in compact MCU boards and wireless nodes where standard cable exit causes strain
- 🏭 Industrial Modules: DIN-rail and panel-mount assemblies with restricted cable routing space
- 🔧 Custom Harness Assembly: Prototyping and production harnesses requiring same-side wire exit for clean cable management
Compatibility Note
Mates with Molex 51006 PCB headers (2.0mm pitch, through-hole). Not compatible with JST PH 2.0mm headers despite identical pitch.
